More about the Last Season's Artists
Jennifer Armstrong has spent her life writing, singing and making music with fiddle, bagpipe, banjo and words. She is a storyteller, singer, instrumentalist, poet and published author with humor, warmth and grace. She works as an artist-in-residence in folk arts, storytelling and writing as well as a private teacher and a performer across the country. Jennifer was a featured teller at the National Storytelling Festival in 1998 and 2010, has been heard on NPR and has music recordings and published books to her credit.
For the past thirty five years, Geoff Kaufman has been leading audiences to find truth, humor, and beauty in folk music. Whether singing sailor songs with his quartet, Forebitter, or in solo performances at coffeehouses throughout the Northeast United States and festivals in the U.S, and Europe, Geoff has entertained and touched audiences near and far. Songs of the sea, songs of the earth, songs of the heart and the spirit—all of these are in Geoff Kaufman's ditty bag. Geoff likes to stress the "live" in live performance, promoting participation, be it by voice or heart or mind.
Nick Apollonio grew up in Rockport, Maine and by the early 70's he had started a Folk music festival in Rockport and begun playing fiddle tunes. Over the years he developed a 10 string instrument called a cittern, which he now plays more often than guitar; it is like a hybrid of a guitar and mandolin. Nicks’s repertoire includes a collection of chanteys as were sung on working sailing vessels over the centuries, southern blues, Celtic traditional ballads, and pub songs. Recording credits include his 1989 debut album 'Music of the Maine Coast’, 'More Maine Coast Music’(1996), and 'Cittern on the Dock of the Bay'(2007).
